
Early-Morning Excavator Rampage Leads to Arrest in Post Falls
POST FALLS, ID — Police arrested a 29-year-old man early Tuesday morning after he allegedly used an excavator to demolish a newly constructed home in a quiet residential neighborhood.
The incident occurred near the intersection of W. Alsea Avenue and W. Platte Court. Multiple 911 calls alerted authorities to the destruction in progress. Officers with the Post Falls Police Department responded quickly to the scene and spotted a suspect leaving the area in a vehicle.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
The suspect, identified as Fred Kudrna, was taken into custody after a traffic stop. He faces charges including:
- Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
- Burglary
- Malicious injury to property
Kudrna is reportedly known to lead a transient lifestyle and is employed in construction. No motive has been identified at this time, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
Property Damage and Investigation
The home, recently finished and sold, had not yet been occupied. It sustained significant damage during the incident. Detectives are now working with the property’s builder and eyewitnesses to determine the full scope of the destruction and whether any additional charges are warranted.
Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of further legal action as they continue reviewing the case.
