Brent Sharrai, 41, of Payette, was sentenced to 1–7 years in prison after pleading guilty to meth possession. Originally arrested on New Year’s Day for allegedly placing a pipe bomb on a train car, charges related to the explosive were dropped. Officials said he had an “extremely long criminal history.” His attorney claimed he was lighting fireworks, not building a bomb. The incident halted train traffic and involved the FBI.
