MONTEVIEW, IDAHO — A mother in Jefferson County is pleading for the safe return of her two missing teenagers after they disappeared Sunday evening near their home in Monteview.
Elizabeth Roundy says her children—13-year-old Allen Larand Fischer and 15-year-old Rachelle Leray Fischer—vanished while she was attending a Bible class for two hours that evening. She had last seen them at a nearby shop where they were using the internet.
“I came home and they were gone,” Roundy said. “Somebody came by the shop and hauled off with them.”
Authorities issued an AMBER Alert on Monday, stating the children may be in danger. As of Tuesday, law enforcement officials said they had not confirmed a suspect vehicle.
Roundy believes the disappearance may be connected to members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS), the religious group she left in 2020. She alleges that the children’s father, Nephi Fischer, and older siblings associated with the FLDS could be involved.
In a previous case in 2023, Roundy’s other daughter, Elintra Dee Fischer, was reported missing from the same home. She remains missing, and Roundy suspects she may have also played a role in the current situation.
“I’ve seen vehicles driving by our property repeatedly in the days leading up to this,” Roundy said. “I believe they were watching, waiting for an opportunity.”
The mother expressed concern over recent messages circulated within the FLDS Church suggesting children must be returned to the church “by any means necessary.” She fears the children may be in hiding nearby or waiting to be moved once attention dies down.
Allen was last seen wearing a light blue shirt, blue jeans, and black slip-on shoes. He has sandy blonde hair and blue eyes. Rachelle was reportedly dressed in a dark green prairie dress, with braided brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at (208) 745-9210.
“I’m heartbroken they’re gone,” Roundy said. “I’m deeply concerned for their well-being and just want them brought home safely.”
