Idaho’s new DOGE Task Force has launched an online portal for residents to report government waste, duplication, and inefficiencies. The committee, formed after the 2025 legislative session, aims to streamline state operations and reduce costs.
Initial priorities include consolidating agencies, cutting unnecessary travel, and evaluating government staffing levels. The task force may also review occupational licensing rules and quasi-public agencies. Lawmakers are using budget cut scenarios requested by the governor’s office as potential blueprints.
At its first meeting, the group examined transparency tools and heard from Arkansas officials who implemented similar reforms. The task force is also being urged to track savings and investigate continuous appropriations that bypass annual legislative review.
The committee includes members from both legislative chambers and expects to propose reforms by 2026.
