Rollover Crash Claims Life of Young Driver in Elmore County
Tragedy struck early Saturday morning in Elmore County, Idaho, when a single-vehicle rollover crash left one teenage boy dead and another seriously injured.
The incident occurred just after 12:30 a.m. on NW Outback Road, south of NW Carl Hickey Road, according to the Idaho State Police (ISP).
Victim Identified as Mountain Home Teen
Authorities say the driver, a juvenile male from Mountain Home, was operating a 1987 Dodge Dakota heading north when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
His passenger, also a juvenile male, was transported by air ambulance to a nearby hospital. The teen’s current condition has not been publicly released.
No Seatbelts Worn, Crash Under Investigation
Neither of the teens was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, ISP confirmed in a press release. Investigators are continuing to examine the cause of the accident, and no further details have been released.
Road Safety Reminder
This crash underscores the importance of wearing safety restraints and exercising caution, especially on rural roads during overnight hours. Idaho has seen a concerning number of fatal crashes involving unrestrained occupants in recent years.
