
Fatal Collision Shuts Down I-84 for Hours
NAMPA, Idaho — A tragic crash on westbound Interstate 84 claimed the life of a juvenile and sent three others to the hospital Tuesday afternoon near Robinson Road, according to Idaho State Police.
The crash occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m. on November 25, just west of the Ada-Canyon county line.
Crash Involved Box Truck and Pickup with Juveniles
Police reported that a 31-year-old man from Meridian was driving a black 2007 GMC Sierra with juvenile passengers when the vehicle rear-ended a white 2013 Ford F450 Box Truck. The Ford was being driven by a 21-year-old male from Nampa, accompanied by a single passenger.
- The GMC Sierra had multiple juvenile passengers.
- One juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Three other occupants from the GMC were transported to a nearby hospital.
- The Ford F450 driver and passenger were uninjured.
Traffic Impact and Response
The crash forced authorities to shut down the westbound lanes of I-84 for nearly three hours. Traffic delays stretched throughout the Treasure Valley during the evening commute.
- Westbound drivers were detoured at Ten Mile Road.
- Eastbound lanes also saw partial closures.
- Estimated delays reached 85 minutes from the Flying Wye to Nampa at the peak of congestion.
All westbound lanes reopened around 6:20 p.m., officials said.
