An 80-year-old Coeur d’Alene resident died Tuesday evening following a single-vehicle accident on Atlas Road near Arrowhead Road. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. and is currently under investigation by the Idaho State Police (ISP).
Vehicle Left Lane and Crashed Off Roadway
According to preliminary findings from ISP, the crash involved a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo traveling north on Atlas Road. Investigators report the driver failed to maintain her lane, crossed into the southbound lanes, and ultimately left the roadway before coming to a stop.
Victim Transported but Later Died
The woman, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Despite emergency care, she later died from her injuries.
Investigation Ongoing
Idaho State Police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash. No further details have been released at this time.
