
BOISE – May 8, 2025 — Former state senator Carl Crabtree, a rancher and advocate for public education, has died after battling brain cancer, state officials confirmed.
Crabtree, a Republican from Grangeville, served in the Idaho Senate from 2016 to 2022, where he championed literacy, full-day kindergarten, and dyslexia screening.
He continued working in education policy after leaving office. He was 2022’s Friend of Education awardee and had previously overcome esophageal cancer. Memorial details have not yet been announced.
