Why It Matters
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is accepting public comments on a draft water quality certification for the Regatta Crossing Subdivision No. 1 project. The proposal includes single-family building lots and permanent impacts to irrigation ditches.
What Happened
DEQ received the project’s certification request on September 15, 2026. The agency determined the proposed work is reasonably expected to comply with water quality requirements if the applicable permit conditions are followed.
The project would involve excavating and filling two irrigation ditches, identified as Ditch 1 and Ditch 2. DEQ’s draft certification cites federal Clean Water Act requirements, federal certification provisions, and Idaho’s water quality standards under IDAPA 58.01.02.
By the Numbers
- 2,542 linear feet: Total permanent irrigation-ditch impact identified for the project.
- 1,101 linear feet: Length of Ditch 1 affected.
- 31 cubic yards: Material proposed for excavation from Ditch 1.
- 55 cubic yards: Material proposed for placement in Ditch 1.
- 170 linear feet: Length of Ditch 2 affected.
Ditch 1 would affect approximately 3,303 square feet. Ditch 2 would involve four cubic yards of excavation, eight cubic yards of fill, and approximately 424 square feet of affected area.
