Idaho Republican Party Chairwoman Dorothy Moon has issued a public statement following recent threats directed at party leadership and members, calling for unity against political violence and reaffirming the party’s platform.
According to Moon, threats included a voicemail left at her home promising a personal confrontation and a social media post advocating for violence against Idaho Republicans. These incidents follow the recent assassination of a state senator and her family in Minnesota, an event that has heightened national concerns about politically motivated violence.
“We Will Not Be Silenced”
Chairwoman Moon emphasized that the Idaho Republican Party would not be intimidated or silenced. “We do not apologize for our positions, and we will not retreat from our responsibility to represent our constituents,” she stated.
Moon reaffirmed the party’s policy priorities, including:
- Opposing gender-transition procedures for minors
- Preventing exposure of children to sexually explicit performances
- Supporting parental rights in educational and medical decisions
“These values are not extreme—they reflect the beliefs of thousands of Idaho families who care deeply about the health, safety, and innocence of their children,” she added.
Law Enforcement Involvement and Security Measures
The threats have been reported to law enforcement and are currently under investigation. The Idaho Republican Party stated it is cooperating fully with authorities and has implemented safety measures to protect its staff, volunteers, and elected officials.
Call for Unity Against Political Violence
Moon urged elected officials and civic leaders from all political affiliations to publicly denounce threats and violence. “Violence has no place in our political discourse, and threats must never be tolerated as a form of activism,” she said.
She also encouraged Idaho citizens to continue engaging in the political process through peaceful and lawful means, emphasizing that disagreement in a democracy must never escalate into intimidation or harm.
