BOISE, Idaho — Initial reports say that Governor Brad Little has vetoed Senate Bill 1023, known as the “Medical Freedom Act,” which sought to restrict the ability of government agencies, businesses, and schools in Idaho to impose vaccine or medical treatment mandates.
The bill, passed by both chambers of the Idaho Legislature, would have prohibited entities from requiring individuals to receive vaccines or other medical interventions as a condition of employment, education, or access to services. It included exceptions for facilities that receive federal funding and for specific health care settings.
Supporters of the bill argued it was necessary to protect individual medical choice, while opponents warned it could hinder public safety during future health emergencies.
The Legislature may consider an override vote in the coming days.
Updates will be posted as this story develops. We are still waiting for the official release from the Governor’s office.
