Idaho Hunter Guilty of Illegally Shooting Trophy Bull Elk in Wolf Lodge Area

A Coeur d’Alene man, Joel Rose, was convicted of a felony for unlawfully killing a trophy-class bull elk with a rifle during the archery-only season in September 2024 on private property in the Wolf Lodge area.

Rose used a 6.5mm Creedmoor rifle, which was seized as evidence.

The elk was classified as a trophy animal, with a damage assessment of $5,000.
