An Israeli air strike destroyed key departments of Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, Gaza City’s last fully operational medical facility. The attack hit the ICU and surgery units, prompting an emergency evacuation of patients and staff. The Israeli military said Hamas was using the hospital as a command center.
No casualties were officially reported, but a child with a head injury died during the rushed evacuation, according to the hospital’s affiliated Episcopal Diocese. Gaza’s health ministry called the facility “completely destroyed,” forcing patients and staff to flee.
The IDF said it issued advance warnings and used precision munitions. This is the same hospital where an October 2023 explosion killed hundreds, a blast still disputed between Israel and Palestinian factions.
