DENVER, CO — A federal judge in Colorado has temporarily blocked the deportation of the wife and children of Mohamed Sabry Soliman, the Egyptian national charged in the recent Molotov cocktail attack on a pro-Israel gathering in Boulder.
The ruling by U.S. District Judge Gordon P. Gallagher prevents the Trump administration from removing Hayem El Gamal and her five children, citing potential “irreparable harm.” A hearing is set for next week.
El Gamal and her children, ages 4 to 17, entered the U.S. on tourist visas in 2022 and are included in Soliman’s pending asylum claim. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained the family on Tuesday, prompting emergency legal action.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem stated ICE is investigating whether the family had prior knowledge of the attack. El Gamal’s attorneys argue she was unaware of her husband’s alleged plans and that deporting the family would violate democratic norms.
The family is currently being held at a detention facility in Texas. The case has sparked national debate about due process and the rights of immigrant families.
