
MERIDIAN, Idaho — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon near a fast-food restaurant in Meridian, leaving one man dead and another in custody.
Emergency dispatchers received multiple 911 calls at approximately 12:39 p.m. reporting gunfire near the McDonald’s located at 195 East Central Avenue, according to Meridian Police.
Shooting Reported by Multiple Witnesses
Authorities say witnesses reported one man firing multiple shots at another individual during the incident. When officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old man deceased at the scene.
Police located the suspected shooter, a 23-year-old man, at the location and detained him without further incident.
Investigators confirmed there are multiple witnesses and several pieces of video evidence that will be reviewed as part of the investigation.
Investigation Ongoing, No Public Threat
Law enforcement officials said the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Ada County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity once next of kin have been notified.
Police stated that additional details will be made available as investigators gather more confirmed information.

The shooting occurred near a high-traffic area close to the Interstate 84 and Meridian Road interchange. Several well-known businesses operate in the immediate area, making the incident highly visible to bystanders.
