
BOISE COUNTY, Idaho — A 23-year-old Caldwell man died Sunday afternoon after his motorcycle collided head-on with an SUV on State Highway 55, just south of Horseshoe Bend.
Idaho State Police reported the crash occurred at 3:31 p.m. on August 3, 2025. The rider of a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling north when he crossed the center line and struck a 2010 Honda Pilot driven by a 45-year-old Idaho City man.
The collision sparked a small brush fire that was quickly contained by emergency crews. The motorcyclist died at the scene from his injuries.
The Honda driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance. His condition has not been released.
Highway 55 was fully closed for approximately three and a half hours while emergency crews managed the crash and fire. It has since reopened.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Boise County Sheriff’s Office, Eagle Fire Department, Horseshoe Bend Ambulance, and Acute Rescue.
The crash remains under investigation.
