National Guard Deployed to Los Angeles Amid Violent Anti-ICE Protests

California descended into chaos this weekend as violent riots—driven largely by illegal immigrants and open-border activists—erupted in response to an ICE operation. In a firm response, President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard to restore law and order after local leaders failed to act.

What began as a protest quickly turned unlawful. Crowds blocked streets, attacked federal agents, and resisted lawful immigration enforcement. Footage shows ICE agents under siege and federal officers forced to use crowd control tactics. Many involved had questionable immigration status, according to authorities monitoring the operation.

The city of Los Angeles, a sanctuary jurisdiction, refused to cooperate with federal officials. Governor Gavin Newsom openly defied President Trump’s deployment and even challenged ICE official Tom Homan to “arrest him first.” Critics say Newsom and other left-wing leaders are placing illegal immigrants above the safety of law-abiding citizens.

“This is the result of years of ignoring federal law and protecting criminal aliens,” said Rep. Nick Langworthy (R-NY). He and other GOP lawmakers are pushing the Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act, which would cut off federal funds to jurisdictions like LA that harbor illegal immigrants and refuse to aid ICE.

President Trump’s move to reinforce immigration enforcement comes as the House advances a major funding bill aimed at deporting criminal aliens, expanding detention centers, and hiring 10,000 new enforcement officers.

Federal officials say these measures are necessary to protect American families. “If local officials won’t do their job, we will,” said Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons. “This lawlessness cannot be tolerated.”

As tensions persist, the National Guard remains on the ground to maintain order. The White House has made it clear: the days of sanctuary cities enabling lawlessness are numbered.
