PARMA, Idaho — A fast-moving wildfire dubbed the Ashlock Fire broke out around 4 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in the Parma Fire District and was fully contained by approximately 10:45 p.m. the same evening, thanks to a coordinated response from more than a dozen Idaho and regional fire agencies.
The blaze scorched both private property and public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Over 100 firefighters and 40 apparatus were deployed, along with air operations teams to combat the fire from above.
Fire crews from Sand Hollow, Parma, Wilder, MidStar, Caldwell, New Plymouth, Fruitland, Payette, Ontario, and Nyssa were among those responding. According to Sand Hollow Fire District spokesperson Christine Robinson, this is not a complete list of agencies involved.
The source of the fire is under investigation.
Authorities are reminding residents and visitors that fire danger remains high across Idaho due to dry grass and rising temperatures. Outdoor activities should be approached with caution to prevent future wildfires.
