POCATELLO, Idaho — A 40-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning following a tense hours-long standoff with Pocatello Police at a mobile home park on West Quinn Avenue.
The incident began around 6:20 a.m., when officers responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at 1730 West Quinn Ave. Upon arrival, police learned that the suspect, Logan Smith, had barricaded himself inside a residence with a woman and three children.
The situation escalated when the female, speaking with dispatchers, reported that Smith was armed with both a gun and a machete. The Immediate Response Team and crisis negotiators were deployed to the scene. Working closely with dispatch, officers were able to safely evacuate the woman and children without injury.
After securing a search warrant, officers engaged in prolonged negotiations. Smith eventually surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without further incident. He now faces three counts of aggravated assault.
There were no injuries, and the area has since been reopened to the public.
