Police Identify Suspect in Series of Fires
The Spokane Police Department (SPD) is asking for the public’s help locating 37-year-old Chad Horne, who is wanted for arson and an unrelated domestic violence charge. Horne is also a person of interest in several fires set in downtown Spokane on Tuesday.
According to SPD’s Major Crimes Unit, Horne was last seen around 2 p.m. Wednesday near the Walmart at Sullivan and Broadway in Spokane Valley. Police believe he may be traveling east on foot.
Description of the Suspect
Horne is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall with a slim build. At the time of his last sighting, he was wearing a white headband, a black tank top, and dark spandex or athletic clothing. He was also seen carrying a large bag and may be traveling with a bicycle.
Anyone who sees Horne or notices suspicious fires is urged to call 911 immediately.
Fires Under Investigation
SPD is investigating six fires that occurred Tuesday at locations including:
- My Fresh Basket grocery store
- Washington State University’s Spokane campus
- Along 3rd Avenue near Sherman Street
Surveillance footage reportedly shows Horne near one of the fire scenes.
Criminal History
Horne has a prior conviction for reckless burning in 2024, for which he served a two-month sentence.
