
Investigation Underway
Moscow police are investigating a fight near the University of Idaho campus that left one man hospitalized with severe injuries. The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, in the area of Idaho Avenue and Elm Street.
Police Chief Anthony Dahlinger confirmed that the altercation involved two individuals and said one victim remains in the hospital. Authorities believe a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity was involved. No charges have been filed at this time.
Victim Condition
Family members identified the injured man as Austen Dawson. According to his father, Dawson is in an induced coma and suffering from a brain clot and other significant injuries. Doctors have not indicated when he might be brought out of sedation.
University and Fraternity Response
The University of Idaho released a statement expressing concern for the injured individual, reiterating that violence is not tolerated and that the incident is under review through the school’s code of conduct.
Phi Delta Theta’s national headquarters announced that the individual involved has been removed from membership while an internal investigation continues. The fraternity emphasized its policy against violence and reaffirmed its commitment to student safety.
Appeal for Information
