Investigation Uncovers Disturbing Cyber Activity
A 27-year-old man from Sugar City, Idaho, is facing serious legal charges following an investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation was initiated after receiving multiple cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. These tips, submitted by Google, indicated that child pornography had been uploaded to a specific Google account.
Details of the Cyber Tips
The cybertips revealed that 39 images containing explicit content involving children were uploaded. The content included child sexual abuse materials, child erotica, and BDSM, featuring children aged between 1 and 10 years. An Internet Protocol (IP) address linked to these uploads helped authorities trace the activity back to Zachary Coleman Morris.
Identification and Arrest
Law enforcement officials were able to identify Morris through a report of a traffic accident he was involved in. Further confirmation came from bodycam footage and images found in his Google account. On January 7, authorities executed a search warrant at Morris’s residence, leading to his arrest.
Interview and Confession
During an interview at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Morris signed a Miranda Waiver and acknowledged ownership of the Google account in question. Although the account had been shut down, Morris admitted to emailing himself explicit images from his brother’s computer. He claimed that he accessed his brother’s device to find photos of a partner but instead discovered the illicit content.
Involvement of Jacob Morris
Zachary Morris’s brother, Jacob, was also implicated in the investigation. He was arrested earlier in January after the Idaho Crime Against Children Task Force found multiple images of violent child pornography on his devices. Jacob faces 10 felony counts of possession of child pornography and remains in custody at Madison County Jail.
Legal Proceedings and Bail
Zachary Morris’s bail was initially set at $1 million but was later reduced to $500,000. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Magistrate Judge David Hunt on March 11 at 1:30 p.m.
