Bree Derrick Named New Idaho Corrections Director

BOISE, Idaho — Governor Brad Little announced Bree Derrick as the new director of the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC). Derrick, deputy director since 2019, replaces Josh Tewalt, who is leaving for a private sector job after leading the agency since 2018. Derrick has over 20 years in corrections and is known for improving staffing and crime reduction programs. Tewalt will stay through most of the legislative session. The Idaho Board of Correction also appointed Paul Franz as the new District 1 representative on the Idaho Transportation Board. Franz is an engineer with experience in community leadership.
