CANYON COUNTY, Idaho — A new $27.6 million headquarters is bringing the Canyon County Sheriff’s Department under one roof for the first time, replacing the current setup of scattered and cramped offices across the courthouse complex.
Sheriff Kieran Donahue said deputies have worked out of closets, retrofitted locker rooms, and divided operations into four separate spaces totaling about 38,000 square feet. The new three-story building will consolidate those operations, housing patrol, dispatch, and detectives while also leaving room for future growth.
The project is partially funded through federal ARPA dollars, with the remainder coming from county justice funds. Canyon County Public Works Director Rick Britton said the design allows for expansion over the next five years, reducing the need for additional buildings.
Construction crews are currently installing electrical systems, and the building is expected to open to the public by March 2026. The move will also free up space in the courthouse for new courtrooms to serve the county’s growing population.
