Teen Found After Month-Long Search
A 16-year-old girl, missing for approximately one month, has been recovered safely by the FBI in a coordinated effort involving multiple states. The teenager was located in a hotel room near Jacksonville, Florida, after being reported missing from Ohio on February 16.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
The suspect in this case has been identified as a man from Tennessee named Negron. He is currently facing pending charges. Negron has also been linked to a separate incident in 2024, involving the alleged transportation of a 17-year-old girl from Texas for illicit activities.
FBI’s Continued Efforts Against Child Exploitation
This case marks the second successful operation by the FBI against alleged child sexual abusers in just one week. The FBI Director emphasized the significance of protecting children from violent offenders and highlighted the collaborative efforts of various field offices and local law enforcement agencies.
The Director stated, “This operation showcases the FBI’s commitment to working with local partners, utilizing advanced technology, and deploying specialized units to apprehend suspected kidnappers and protect young lives.”
Investigation Details
The girl, originally from Colerain Township, Ohio, was found after investigators tracked down Negron. A search warrant executed at Negron’s Tennessee residence revealed he had fled, but authorities were able to locate him in Palatka, Florida. Following his arrest, the girl was found safe in a nearby hotel.
Ongoing Investigation
While charges against Negron are pending, officials continue to review digital evidence. As of now, no child sexual abuse material has been discovered. The investigation also uncovered Negron’s involvement in a 2024 incident with another minor, during which he allegedly engaged in threatening behavior towards law enforcement.
