Why It Matters
Idaho families could have dangerous products in their homes right now. Attorney General Raúl Labrador is urging Idahoans to check their households against a newly released list of 24 items subject to federal recall, covering everything from children’s clothing to motorized sporting equipment.
What Happened
Labrador’s office published the full list of products recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) this month. The recalls span a broad range of consumer goods, including household appliances, toys, furniture, baby bottles, pool drains, and children’s sleepwear.
The Attorney General’s office is directing consumers to immediately stop using any recalled item and to consult the product’s specific recall notice for guidance on returns, repairs, refunds, disposal, or replacements.
“The global marketplace gives Idaho consumers more choices than ever, but it also brings real risks when safety standards aren’t met,” Labrador said in announcing the list.
Idahoans who believe they own a recalled product or want to report an unsafe item can submit a complaint directly through the CPSC’s website.
By the Numbers
- 24 products on the current federal recall list released by Labrador’s office
- Recalls were issued in June 2026 by the CPSC
- Product categories affected: 5+, including appliances, toys, clothing, furniture, and motorized sporting goods
- Items of particular concern for young children include children’s sleepwear, baby bottles, and pool drains
Zoom Out
Consumer product safety has drawn increased attention as global supply chains have introduced more goods from manufacturers operating under different regulatory standards. Federal oversight through the CPSC is intended to serve as a safeguard, but state attorneys general play an important role in amplifying recall notices to local populations who may otherwise miss federal announcements.
The move reflects a broader effort by state-level officials across the Mountain West to keep constituents informed about federal consumer protections, particularly for products marketed to children and infants. Concerns about federal oversight gaps in consumer-facing industries have been raised in other contexts as well — including a recent push to strengthen federal oversight of aviation safety following a Missouri skydiving crash.
What’s Next
Idahoans are encouraged to review the complete list through the Attorney General’s office and cross-reference it against products in their homes. Those with recalled items should follow the specific instructions attached to each product’s recall notice. Consumers with additional concerns can file a report directly with the CPSC at its official website.
