The Institute for American Manufacturing & Technology (IAMT), an Idaho-based policy and research organization, has expanded its research program into three specialized divisions focused on the structural challenges facing American industry, energy systems, and technological infrastructure.
IAMT, founded by Patrick J. Wolf, PhD, now operates through the Aegis Institute for artificial intelligence and compute infrastructure, the Atlas Institute for energy and power systems, and the Forge Policy Institute for manufacturing and supply chains.
The organization has published several research papers since its launch, covering topics ranging from state-level AI governance to energy demand projections for reshored manufacturing and defense production.
“The challenges facing American industry aren’t siloed — energy policy, AI adoption, and manufacturing competitiveness are deeply interconnected,” said Wolf, who serves as IAMT’s Executive Director. “The divisional structure lets us address each domain with the depth it requires while keeping the research integrated.”
The Aegis Institute focuses on artificial intelligence policy, compute infrastructure, and the governance frameworks needed as AI systems become embedded in government and private sector operations. Its most recent publication examines the strategic case for state-level Chief AI Officers.
The Atlas Institute covers energy security, power grid capacity, and the energy demands of industrial policy. Its research on oil market vulnerability and energy demand projections for data centers and manufacturing has drawn attention to the gap between current energy infrastructure and the demands of planned industrial expansion.
The Forge Policy Institute addresses manufacturing policy, supply chain resilience, and the conditions required for American industrial competitiveness. Its work focuses on the policy frameworks that determine whether reshoring and domestic production goals are achievable.
