A 27-year-old man from Kansas has been charged with attempted first-degree murder following an alleged stabbing incident in a park located in Olathe. The suspect, Kwan Noble Trezvant, was apprehended after authorities received reports of an armed disturbance. The Olathe Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 12:06 p.m. near the 1000 block of North Ridgeview Road. Upon arrival, officers found Trumpp suffering from stab wounds. She was promptly transported to a hospital for medical treatment and is expected to survive her injuries.
According to local reports, the attack on Trumpp, a choir teacher at Indian Trail Middle School, was entirely unprovoked. In response to the incident, community members have initiated a meal train fundraiser to support Trumpp and her family during her recovery.
Legal Proceedings
The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office has filed a complaint against Trezvant, accusing him of attempting to unlawfully and intentionally kill Trumpp with premeditation. The legal definition of attempted first-degree murder includes these elements. Trezvant made a court appearance following his arrest, and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 26. He remains in custody with a bond set at $500,000.
Suspect’s Criminal Background
Trezvant has a prior criminal record, having pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery of a law enforcement officer in 2024, which resulted in a nearly four-month jail sentence. Additionally, in 2020, he was convicted of obstructing the legal process and possession of drug paraphernalia, for which he was released after serving time.
