MADISON, Wisconsin — America PAC, backed by billionaire Elon Musk, is offering Wisconsin voters $100 to sign a petition against “activist judges.” Announced Thursday on X, the petition also pays $100 per referral. This comes two weeks before the state’s April 1 Supreme Court election between Susan Crawford and Brad Schimel, with early voting underway since Tuesday.
The election will decide if the court remains liberal or shifts conservative. America PAC and Building for America’s Future, both Musk-funded, have spent over $13 million supporting Schimel, according to the Brennan Center for Justice. Crawford’s campaign says Musk is trying to sway the race, pointing to Tesla’s recent lawsuit against Wisconsin over dealership rules, a case the court could hear.
Last year, Musk’s PAC paid voters in battleground states, including Wisconsin, for a similar petition. Philadelphia’s DA challenged it but lost in court. America PAC pointed to its X post when asked for comment; Schimel’s campaign has not responded.
