COEUR D’ALENE — With temperatures hitting 97 degrees on Wednesday, locals and visitors flocked to Lake Coeur d’Alene for relief from the heat.
The National Weather Service reported that Wednesday tied one of the summer’s hottest days, matching the 97-degree high recorded on July 14. Coeur d’Alene’s July average is 83 degrees, but temperatures have been above normal for June and July.
City water usage has surged, with about 800 million gallons pumped this month, averaging 26 million gallons per day, according to water director Kyle Marine.
Forecasters expect another day in the 90s today, with cooler conditions likely within a week as unsettled weather approaches.
